Dr. Eric Swartz, D.C.

Dr. Eric Swartz grew up in Dallas, TX. Constantly struggling with his weight, he was finally able to lose over 50 lbs in 1982 doing aerobics classes. After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in advertising, Eric knew he needed to move to New York or LA to really have a career. But his dedication to fitness over powered his other goals. So with eyes for a career in fitness, he moved to LA in 1989.

Right away he was hired to teach fitness classes at the internationally known Jane Fonda’s workout (then on Robertson and Olympic) and the Voight Fitness and Dance (then on La Cienega Blvd. and Santa Monica). At this time these were the top fitness studios in the world. Group exercises classes such circuit training, spinning and cardio funk all started right there in those very walls. Quickly Eric’s unique style of low impact became popular for all those who lived in Hollywood including many celebrities.

Seeing an opportunity, Eric started a personal training business and signed on some Hollywood’s high profile players. Some of his clients included Jennifer Anniston (Friends), Jennifer Jason Leigh (Back Draft/Single White Female), Darren Star (Melrose Place, Sex in the City), Tim Curry (Rocky Horror Picture Show) and many more.

Surprisingly people would travel from all over the world to experience Eric’s class. They enjoyed his choreography and his infectious energy. Soon Eric got offers to present his unique style of fitness at conventions all over the world. As the demand grew he made a decision to quit personal training and travel full time. For 4 years, he presented workshops, motivational speeches and master classes to other fitness instructors in many exciting (and some not so exciting) locations world wide, including Europe, Japan, Sweden, and South America.

Wanting to make a transition that was not so dependent on his body, Eric searched for his next profession. He had been in a field where he helped people feel better naturally and wanted to continue that. Then he discovered chiropractic. Eric realized not only was chiropactic all natural but it even went further to help those who could not help themselves. Yes this meant going back to school for 4 years but early on in his studies, Dr Swartz realized that this was a perfect fit. The ideas and concept of chiropractic are just in line with health and fitness.

Having found his next calling Dr Swartz excelled in school. Not only was he president of his class, he was a mentor for others wanting to become chiropractors. Dr Swartz graduated with honors and won the coveted clinic intern award, being recognized as the outstanding graduating intern.

Now Dr Swartz has opened his own office called Back to Total Health. Here he uses both his knowledge of the body and fitness to create a path to wellness for his patients. Not only does he address the structural component of the body (the skeleton), but he compliments this with body balancing and specific exercises to aid in faster healing. And he gives methods to able the patient to maintain their health on their own. Dr Swartz has helped many through aches, pain, headaches and chronic problems. And he still continues to do this with the passion and excitement of his first day.
